Hi Everyone. Oh my gosh, there are so many feels in this update. So much has happened lately, and as Dr. Becker says in the film, I have been having a whip-saw of emotions. But I suppose life is about balance, so in that regard, there is so much I have to share, both good and bad.
I'll start with the good news. It's great news actually! First, we got into the Orlando Film Festival which is a big YAY! Last year, they had 12,000 in attendance. On average, they have about 1,000 entries per year. Out of those enteries they accept about 25 feature documentaries. We are honored to be among those chosen this year. This means many eyes will be on the film during the festival. We will also be inviting clinics in Orlando to come view it with us, and we will be sending out those personal invites soon. As soon as the 2024 program is set, and we have our official screening date, we will post that on our Screenings page.
Our next bit of good news. ...drum roll please...is that the film is now streaming on Amazon! It was a bit of a shock because it is incredibly difficult to get on that platform right now. They had stopped accepting non-fiction films for awhile because there is much content out there. They have been focusing on selecting films from festivals to distribute without solicitation. But, low and behold, they let us know that they picked up the film and it is now available to stream through Prime Video. We adjusted the rental and sales amount on Vimeo to match Amazon, so the streaming price is the same on all platforms now. This news couldn't have come at a better time, and we are so thrilled because there seems to be a lot of momentum for the film right now. But, like I said, life is about balance, which leads me to some bad news that I feel is okay to share with this community even though it is very personal.
On the day that Amazon let us know that the film would be streaming on Prime, we had to suddenly and unexpectedly say goodbye to our beloved pup, Heidi Roo. Our hearts are so heavy and we are still in a bit of shock. She had a very bad slipped disk, and when we did the x-ray, we discovered very advanced spondylosis. She never let us know how much pain she was in until about a week ago, so we never knew anything until then. We tried pain meds for about three days, but they did not help, and so we had to say goodbye so fast. We are just so devastated. We are forever going to miss her, and we will always have her in our hearts. We could not have gotten through this without our friends at our clinic, so I want to give them a special shout out and share this photo of them with our Heidi Roo. They threw her a party so she would have her best last day ever, and we are forever thankful for them for getting us through this difficult time. This is exactly one of the reasons why we made this film. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to them and so many others who help us humans and our fur babies everyday.
So that's everything. That whip-saw just keeps on a whipping! We know you all understand. We hope everyone reading this is happy, healthy, and safe, and as always, more to come later. Thanks for reading.
Marie
